The IMF International Financial Statistics database provides all time series from the International Monetary Fund's International Financial Statistics publication. Since it was first published in 1948, the IFS has been recognized as a leading source of comparable statistics on domestic and international finance for most countries of the world.
IMF International Financial Statistics provides data on exchange rates, international liquidity, money and banking, international transactions, consumer prices, production, government finance, interest rates, the balance of payments and key national accounts aggregates, for around 200 countries and regional groupings.
In addition, a set of comparative world and area tables is provided for exchange rates, Fund accounts, international reserves, monetary, interest rates, effective exchange rates, prices, production, trade and GDP.
In September 2025 the IMF introduced a new data portal and discontinued the IFS as a single dataset whilst retaining the series in other IMF datasets. EconData's IFS database in dXtime brings together the IFS series from the various datasets and thus remains unchanged apart from series identifier changes, with the same layout and organisation.
The database in dX format contains over 200,000 time series including series with the old identifiers from the IFS database decommissioned in October 2017 and from the IFS database decommissioned in September 2025.
IMF International Financial Statistics is organized into two dX format databases, the first containing the series at the highest available frequency (monthly, quarterly or annual) and the second containing all annual series.
